Who We Are
Arise Academy I Te Puna Whakatika invokes conversation about the gathering of and sharing of knowledge that is centred on the person. It could be seen as a spring of knowledge that keeps renewing and overflowing thus enabling or spreading out into the various forums that we as contributors participate in and draw from, therefore, allowing us to make meaningful contributions into the future.
The Arise Academy story began with the inspiring work of its founder Jagriti Foundation.
Jagriti Foundation (CC55188), a Charitable Trust played a pivotal role in establishing Arise Academy. While Arise Academy now operates independently, both organisations share a deep commitment to aroha and care, fostering wellbeing and education to support the wairua of individuals and communities.
Jagriti Foundation was established in 2017 to support women in their personal healing journeys. The mahi of Jagriti Foundation supports individuals with personal and varying needs that require individual support and wraparound services if long-lasting freedom from abuse, addiction and life changes is to be successful. This includes Jagriti House, a safe, supportive and private residential home and services for the wellbeing recovery of women.
Arise Academy, originally established through the vision of Jagriti Foundation, now operates as an independent educational provider, extending its reach to all individuals, not just women. By offering accessible education pathways, Arise Academy empowers learners, fosters mana and creates opportunities for sustainable living, enabling real and lasting change.
Responding directly to community needs, Arise Academy supports health, wellness and learning through NZQA-approved programmes health and wellbeing, mental health and addiction, peer support and homebased early childhood education. These programmes are designed to deliver practical skills and knowledge that lead to real-life success and meaningful contributions to the community.
Leadership
Arise Academy is led by a passionate team responsible for providing academic leadership and managing the strategic direction of the academy.
Academic
Arise Academy’s academic team have extensive practical experience and expertise in the fields of health and wellbeing, mental health and addiction support and early childhood education. The academic team manage the development, delivery and review of Arise Academy’s programmes, while also providing ongoing support to learners throughout their study journey.
Learner Support
The Learner Support team provide support to learners to ensure their health, safety and wellbeing are priority throughout their learning journey. The team are in regular contact with learners, offering programme selection guidance, regular wellbeing check-ups and monitoring progress to ensure additional support is provided when required.
IT Help
Arise Academy’s IT Help provides technical support for learners to ensure their study journey runs smoothly. Learners can reach out to the team for hands-on support if they experience challenges such as navigating Arise Online, uploading assignments, or logging into their account.
